(Added bonus: You can reuse or recycle the envelopes!) If you prefer a different shipping method, just convo us. We package our paper goods in a sturdy envelope to keep them from bending in transit. We ship at least twice a week via USPS first class mail. We also suggest submitting a "missing mail search request" with the USPS when you think the shipment has been lost. This is will depend on the individual order, if the items are in stock, etc. However, we reserve the right to decide if we can replace the items on an order to order basis. We often will replace the items if they become lost in the mail. Unfortunately it is a risk we take as seller and buyer. If your order does not arrive: When our products leave our studio and are in the hands of USPS, we cannot guarantee that they will deliver. We are not responsible for damage occurring during shipping unless insurance has been applied (insurance is available at buyer's cost and by request). If the item ordered arrives damaged, please let us know. Shipping cost for a return is the responsibility of the buyer. If an exchange is requested, once the item has been returned to us in perfect condition, we will ship the exchange when shipping back to buyer has been paid. If you would like to exchange or return an item that is not defective, shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer. If the product received is defective, we will exchange for a new item. So please be sure you want the item before you place the order. She continues to make fine art when she's not busy keeping up with Blackbird, designing, printing, and performing other operational tasks. Kathryn Hunter was trained as a printmaker and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking (1999) from Montana State University, Bozeman, and a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking (2003) from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. You can see them by searching Instagram for #heartbuttjunior and #avathegirlscout. We use the original C&P 8x12, along with a Vandercook SP15, C&P 10x15, and 2 Heidelberg Windmills. The printshop moved in Fall of 2016 and has expanded in space and equipment. Blackbird then worked out of a mural-clad building in Baton Rouge from 2007-2016, which they shared with a cool metalworking business and two frisky guard dogs. The printshop grew up little by little in that back room from 2003-2007 until it was bursting the seams. A collection of vintage printers' cuts came from a long time printer in New Iberia, Louisiana. Pudd & Kathryn flew up to to the Windy city and loaded a couple tons of type and cabinets and other goodies out of a basement into a moving truck, and drove it back to Bayou Country. The type came from a printer outside of Chicago. Since she couldn't move the 1100lb press into her apartment, her friends, Pudd & Leigh Anne, came to the rescue by offering their back room as a printshop. Kathryn Hunter began Blackbird Letterpress in 2003 in Lafayette, Louisiana, after she bought a Chandler & Price 8x12 letterpress.
